The Central Jersey Jazz Festival kicks of this Friday night at 6pm in Flemington. Friday’s headliner is Bria Skonberg, an award winning trumpeter/vocalist/composer. According to The Wall Street Journal, Bria Skonberg is “poised to be one of the most versatile and imposing musicians of her generation.” Bria was also nominated by the Jazz Journalists’ Association for “Up and Coming Jazz Artist of The Year” and is included in DownBeat Magazine’s Rising Star Critics‘ Poll for 2013/2014.
Opening Friday’s show are three other talented act:
- Sara Partidge, for 20 years, she has been delighting audiences with her voice.
- Mona’s Hot Four, fronted by Dennis Lichtman, a 35-year-old multi-instrumentalist (clarinet, violin, mandolin) and vocalist, plays early- to mid-1900’s American music, from traditional jazz and swing to bluegrass and western swing and
- Chuck Lambert, a veteran blues guitarist who has played with blues greats, John Lee Hooker and Screamin’ Jay Hawkins
Last year’s event was a huge success. So, come down and be part of the fun.
Please be aware that Main Street will be closed between Capner and Mine Streets. The best way to get to Barkley’s and the Jazz Festival is via Broad Street. Parking is available in the two public lots off Spring Strret. If you need big bags of food or lots of dog and cat supplies, don’t fret. As always, we will help carry them to your car.
